New Names Added To Gucci Concert

Posted by Nat on Friday May 3, 2013 at 1:44 pm PDT

BLAKE LIVELY, James Franco and Jennifer Lopez will join Beyoncé Knowles on stage during Gucci’s Sound of Change concert in London. While Lively and Franco have been confirmed as presenters, Lopez will perform a special one-off set.

Other names to feature in the charity gig, to be held at Twickenham Stadium on June 1, include Florence and the Machine, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding and Haim. Further acts and surprise collaborations are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Knowles is the concert’s artistic director and will herself perform a 45-minute set. The event was organised in support of Gucci’s new Chime for Change campaign – an initiative founded by Knowles, Salma Hayek and Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, with the aim of improving health, education and justice for women worldwide.

“Thanks to Beyoncé and the amazing line-up of performers and presenters, the stage at Twickenham on June 1 will be filled with powerful voices of change who believe that girls and women everywhere deserve the right to be educated, healthy, safe and celebrated,” said Giannini. “This represents an important moment in the Chime For Change campaign, but it’s only the beginning. The funds we raise will have a major impact on the lives of thousands of girls and women around the world.”

Blake Lively and Halle Berry Join Gucci’s Chime For Change

Posted by Nat on Tuesday April 16, 2013 at 8:21 am PDT

BLAKE LIVELY, Halle Berry and Zoe Saldana are just three of the new names to support Gucci’s Chime for Change campaign. The actresses join existing ambassadors and co-founders Beyoncé Knowles, Salma Hayek and Frida Giannini.

Other stars to lend their voice to the campaign include Katy Perry, Freida Pinto, Evan Rachel Wood, Olivia Wilde and Jada Pinkett Smith – who have all united in a new video to declare that “anything is possible for women around the world.” In the short clip, the ambassadors highlight “three of the most powerful tools a woman can have to help change the world”: education, health and justice.

Knowles reveals that she tells her daughter every day that she could be President (“I know she has no idea why I’m saying that – she’s one year old and I’m like: ‘You know you could be President’”). Berry talks about what inspires her, while Perry and Pinkett Smith praise the impact of social media, and Giannini emphasises the importance of being a role model to future generations.

The Chime for Change campaign, spearheaded by Gucci, aims to raise funds and awareness of women’s issues globally. A charity concert in aide of the project, Sound of Change Live, will be held at Twickenham Stadium on June 1.

Elle Decor: Blake Lively on Designing her New Kitchen

Posted by Nat on Friday March 29, 2013 at 8:38 am PDT

Actress Blake Lively won over television and film audiences with her starring role on Gossip Girl and critically acclaimed performance in The Town, and her sartorial choices have landed her on many best-dressed lists and as a face of CHANEL handbags. Now that she’s purchased a home in Bedford, New York, she’s poised to bring her personality and style to the decorating world as well. An avid cook, Lively is starting the process with a top-of-the-line kitchen, and invited La Cornue President, Xavier Dupuy to the set of Gossip Girl to discuss the project. “She knew exactly what she wanted,” says Dupuy, whose grandfather founded the company over 100 years ago. Since La Cornue ovens are never mass-produced, Lively has been involved in the design of hers—from choosing colors and metals to size and functionality. “Our customer is a true gourmand,” says Dupuy, a fitting statement for Lively, whose cooking has been lauded in the press by former costars and Bedford neighbor Martha Stewart.

ELLEDECOR.com spoke to Lively about her plans for her new home.

ELLE DECOR: Congratulations on your new home. What inspired you to choose the house?

Blake Lively: Thank you. The location is great. And we loved the kitchen. It’s really the family room.

ED: You’re known for your personal style—does that influence your decor?

BL: Design, whether it’s on your body or in your home is the same thing. It’s mixing different colors, different textures, and unexpected patterns—elements that you wouldn’t often put together in an interesting way. That’s also why I look for things that you don’t see everywhere, things that are elegant. And I’m always looking for pieces that make a statement.

ED: Do you have any decorating “rules”?

BL: No. You have to go with your instinct. If you don’t try it, you end up doing it later anyway, and then you end up paying to do it twice! There are things that I just have to try. And yes, sometimes it doesn’t work, but I really think you should just do what makes you happy.

ED: What will your kitchen be like?

BL: Since my kitchen is the most important part of my home, I want to be creative and innovative, not only in it’s aesthetic, but also in the tools that I’m using to cook.  I learned about La Cornue when I was going to school in the south of France. I was on a road trip, stuck in traffic, when I looked to my left and saw the most beautiful ranges I’ve ever seen in my life. I left my car there and jumped out to run to the window. Everybody was honking at me. I took a picture of the window and I thought: One day I’m going to have that!

When I got home, I had to find it. Turns out other people knew about La Cornue (laughs). It wasn’t something that I discovered. The story behind the company and the quality made me want to be a part of it. These ovens are timeless, they’re something you can give your grandkids.

ED: You choose the color Ocean Blue for your oven. What inspired that?

BL: That was the hardest part—so many beautiful colors! This oven is going to be the centerpiece of my kitchen so I wanted something daring but also timeless. I wanted to feel like I could change up other parts of the kitchen and the oven would remain classic. At first I thought a fuchsia or oxblood, but the blue seems like a bold color that’s still grounded, because it has a little bit of a grey undertone. It’s a jewel tone with a little storminess. You can also mix the different metals, can go all-stainless, or copper, or brass. It’s such a fun experience—I’m still deciding on my combination! I can’t tell you how many hours I’ve spent on the website.

ED: Who will be using the oven most in your home?

BL: Me. But I’ll have to fight my mom for it. She is an amazing chef. We’ve got a big family, and we’re very close. My brothers are great at pies, and the girls usually do the savory things.

ED: Do you have any favorite recipes?

BL: I never really cook from recipes. But the worst is when something turns out great and I can’t figure out how to make it again!

Blake Lively’s Newlywed Style: From Sexy to Sedate

Posted by Nat on Thursday March 7, 2013 at 7:59 pm PDT

There’s no doubt that Blake Lively is stunning, and since her wedding day, we’ve noticed a distinctive glow about the star. But we’ve also noticed something else: she’s been dressing in a decidedly more mature way since tying the knot.

Once so known for baring her majorly enviable bod at every chance she got (in teeny outfits like this aqua romper, left) that the GoFugYourself.com girls gave her a nickname about it, the star’s most recent looks have been much more buttoned-up than bodacious.

Lately, we’ve seen Lively wearing outfits befitting her new role as the wife on a country estate, including checked jackets, bucket hats, a very equestrian look and, most recently, this belted plaid day dress.

She’s still a total knockout, but we can’t help wondering if settling down in suburbia with her 36-year-old husband has aged the starlet’s style a bit.
